Channelnomics’ award acknowledges the dramatic affect HTG and its founder have had on IT solution providers and the way they think about their business operations
HARLAN, Iowa – Feb. 1, 2012 – HTG Peer Groups’ unwavering commitment to provide members with peer-level support and business-development guidance has earned the organization and its founder, Arlin Sorensen, recognition as the most influential organization and person, respectively, among channel associations and trade groups in the 2011 Channelnomics Influencers Awards.
“HTG Peer Groups and its founder Arlin Sorensen seem to be at the top of everyone’s list. While there are many channel associations and industry groups to choose from, few have developed the cache and influence of HTG Peer Groups, as evidenced by its continued development this year under Sorensen’s skillful leadership,” Channelnomics said in conferring the award.
The awards honor individuals and businesses for what they’ve done to “affect change, influence strategic planning and sway markets.” Channelnomics is an online publication devoted to advancing the analysis, debate and conversation of business models, technology practices and partner relationships in the global IT reseller channel.

DALLAS – Jan. 18, 2011 – Today marks the start of HTG Peer Groups’ inaugural Leadership Forum, a two-day workshop for the management teams of HTG Peer Group organizations that are looking to strengthen their strategy development and execution skills. The Forum is the first of four quarterly gatherings where members participate in highly concentrated, interactive sessions focused on building winning skills around four key areas: strategy, people, team and leadership. Leading executive education organizations, such as the renowned coaching agency, Gazelle Systems, will facilitate these sessions.
More than 80 attendees representing over 50 companies – roughly 20 percent of the HTG Peer Group membership – have signed up for the program that was unveiled late last year during the Q4 HTG ALL meeting in Orlando, Fla. held prior to the ConnectWise IT Nation event. In addition to the structured sessions, participants will be grouped into smaller teams of three to four people where they will examine the strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats (SWOT) of their peers.

Newly launched HTG Peer Groups' program offers in-kind services and financial aid to member companies and civic organizations affected by Joplin, Mo., tornadoes.
"For all the pictures that you may have seen, I can tell you that they pale in comparison to standing in the middle of destruction as far as you can see," said Jane Cage, Heartland Technology Solutions (HTS) chief operating officer and business partner to Arlin Sorensen, CEO of HTG Peer Groups, a founding member of Hands That Give. "I have lived in Joplin for 30 years now but many times this week I was unable to figure out where I was because every landmark has disappeared. At the worst points, houses and all their belongings were shredded. The bark was peeled off trees and cars looked as though they had been in a bomb blast."

HARLAN, Iowa, May 4, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- After witnessing several colleagues struggle to manage their businesses following a life-threatening personal injury, prolonged illness or natural disaster, HTG Peer Groups CEO Arlin Sorensen teamed with XiloCore CEO Lester Keizer and Business Continuity Technologies Vice President Mike Semel to take decisive action. Together they began carefully and persuasively lobbying their extensive networks of leading 'channel' vendors, distributors and solution providers to help them build 'Hands That Give,' the IT industry's first member-led emergency response system modeled after the American Red Cross.
"Hands That Give provides a rich and meaningful opportunity to help restore hope and dignity following times of crisis," said Sorensen. "HTG is more than an association of individuals with shared experiences or even similar objectives. It's a community defined by a common cause; one that pulls together in support of friends enduring dire straits so that they can more quickly return to brighter days. We quite simply will not leave any member alone during a time of personal tragedy or business disruption."
