The Weekend on the Farm is a "God-Thing." It's one of those spectacular you'd-never-believe-it-if-I-told-you miracles that our God faithfully works so often if we'll only have eyes to see and then commit to remember.
The Weekend on the Farm was born somewhat accidentally like most things dad does. In 2004, Dad started e-mailing a few men in his small group at church each morning. His e-mails would contain the notes of his morning time in the Bible and were one way he ...

Upcoming HTG Events #1 - Service Management Summit
This is the first post in a series that will cover the upcoming HTG events for the second half of 2012. We are excited to be executing around a number of areas the HTG Advisory Council recommended as next steps to take HTG deeper into our member companies. Tim Brewer, from Annitel ...

Wisdom from One of the Great Writers of Our Time
Verne Harnish summarized a recent presentation by Jim Collins, who is one of the great authors of our time. Collins wrote "Good to Great" and recently released another awesome book "Made to Last". When he speaks, I listen, and his words are almost always sound advise for a growing business.
Here is the summary of what Collins shared. You may need to read his books, or at least a summary of them, to understand the terminology used.
Jim Collins' Top 10 List -- Jim led a highly insightful 3 hour opening session at last week's Fortune Leadership Summit in Atlanta. He capped it off with a top 10 list for growth firms:

An Opportunity to Grow
HTG has been focused for years on helping people develop the discipline of planning. We require members to write four plans - business, leadership, life and legacy. Each has a very important role in our company, and our personal lives. The reason it is a requirement is simple. Without plans we have no way of understanding where someone is attempting to go, and what the outcomes are they are working to achieve. Planning is core to effective peer interaction, or any type of acountability for that matter. It is essent...
