Peer Power Blog
This blog is about the power of peers in the IT space. It is designed as a place to share things I have learned the past 24+ years running a business as well as meeting the growing demands of business owners we experience leading the Heartland Tech Groups - a peer group network for IT business owners.

HTG Online Has Taken Off
We are excited to announce that we have officially launched HTG Online. This is a return of a program that we initially had back in 2006-2008 in cooperation with Microsoft, but had to end it in the summer of 2008 due to funding limitations. After several years of planning and a desire to return to helping small IT firms, we have brought the program back. We were serving over 150 companies when the program retired last time, and believe there are many others that would benefit which served as the catalyst to bring it back again.
HTG Online is an adaptation of HTG Peer Groups’ face-to-face program, which consists of quarterly meetings, networking and an annual summit. Now, without the cos...

Remembering One of Our Own
This past week we lost another member of the HTG family with the passing of Chirag Patel who is a member of HTG11 in the UK. Chirag was a Director with the team at NetStar IT. He passed on Saturday July 14 and will be deeply missed. Here is a picture of him with some of the HTG11 group.
His funeral will be held on July 21 at 11 AM and a number of the HTG11 group will be in attendance. We will be providing a way for you to be involved in a charity in his honor at the request of his wife, Dipti, in the days ahead.
Please keep the NetStar IT family in your thoughts and prayers. This is always a difficult situation, but certainly even more so when the person is only 34 years old as Ch...

It's a Wrap - WPC 2012 is in the Books
Last week was an interesting week at Microsoft Worldwide Partner Conference in Toronto. It was a battle getting there – plane delays and cancelled flights didn’t allow me to get to town until mid-afternoon on day one. Twenty seven quality hours in Detroit that weren’t on my calendar or agenda but it certainly reminded me that I am not in control of much, actually anything if we get right down to it. Just another reminder that the unexpected can happen at any time, and being prepared for it is an important thing to have as a priority. That is why the life and legacy plans can’t be put off – you never know when the unexpected will strike and sometimes that is more than a flight delay or canc...

Hands that Give teams with Vendor Partners HP, Microsoft, and Intel to provide Mission Arlington with an Extreme IT Makeover
HTG Peer Groups, along with our Hands That Give program, is committed to living out the Go-Giver attitude, so we were excited when presented the opportunity to partner with our friends at HP and Microsoft, through their Coffee Coaching program, enabling us to collectively put a plan in place and proactively make a big difference in a local organization. Then along came Intel, and together we all started the ball rolling on this special effort.
We were honored to be selected by Coffee Coaching, a joint program by HP and Microsoft, to help identify the next recipient of their Extreme IT Makeover for non-profits. Now HTG is proud to share the latest Extreme IT Makeover video.
HTG has long be...
